so, i went to the southern states for tour this year with young ambassadors......it was very eventful! here are some pictures for you all to enjoy!

this is in Roanoke, VA.....this city has something to do with stars, so the kind folk in the area made us all star ornaments....how thoughtful.

sometimes, i get my own dressing room with cheetah print carpets.

i got dubbed as luna lovegood in the harry potter books and the films, hence why the sorting hat put me in Gryffindor, the best house of them all......HARRY POTTER WORLD WAS SOO COOL. IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO GO, DON'T PASS IT UP!

last night, my friend's mother was reading to us from this book about how to think like a man but act like a lady...it was really interesting. in the book it says that, "men are something women just have to deal with." so how do we just deal with them? how do women keep men interested in them? here are suggestions:

-when doing some kind of physical activity, be the one to get tired first....men like to think they are stronger.

-when talking to men be really interested in what they say, it lifts their pride BUT then deviate the conversation to another subject soon after he is done talking about himself...it will be a challenge for him to keep your interest.

-men like it when you give them compliments, but not out in public because it embarrasses them.

-if you keep a man thinking about other things rather than just what the normal man would think of such as the physical things, then they will be more interested in you.

-men like to fix problems, so occasionally lean on your man to fix a problem you have.

-if you are more intellectual than a man is, dumb down to his level so you can communicate with him.

-the more you can't make up your mind about a guy, the more he will try to impress you so you can make up your mind.

-don't go over the top to get his attention. all it takes is a little touch on the arm and a flash of your pearly whites.

*if you play the game right, you can get any man you want.....it's kind of fun.*

hopefully soon i'll go back to this friends house to learn more about how women can become successful in the dating world so they can snatch a good fish!

in the meantime, one day hopefully i'll be able to work this magic on my celebrity crush--DAVID ARCHULETA!!! sure, i know he is like a foot shorter than me, but it's the inside that counts right?

there is the top that she took in.....it is a dress, but it's a little short so i paired it with some leggings and it looks fabulous!

my friend Camilla is here visiting from Ireland. she is beautiful and her accent is rubbing off on me a wee bit.

i went to the temple this last week....i woke up at 6 am to go! it was wonderful. can you spot it in the back of this picture? when you choose the right, there are so many things you can learn in the temple. it brings me such a peace as well that i can feel nowhere else in this world.

get better at basketball so i can play it in the mtc

get better at soccer so i can play at the mtc

play racket ball with my mom again.

go to some zumba classes and shake it a little before the mission. i'm sure i won't be able to do that on my mission.

here are some pics of my life recently. i'm the only girl in the "show band" for the young ambassadors at byu. most of the time it's great because i get so much attention--who doesn't like attention thought? but other times i get so annoyed by these 10 guys i'm surrounded with, oh well, i can't complain. ;) soooo here are some pictures of my band life: ( we just went on this 10 day tour thing to southern cal)

if i could learn another instrument, i would learn the trumpet. probably because my dad plays, my older brother plays, and my younger brother plays. they are all cool, so i've made the assumption that most all trumpet players are cool. and all the guys in the pic above are cool. i think i just used the word cool like 4 times in this paragraph......cool.

the title of this post says it all. sometimes you make a decision and the time that you make it, it feels right. but then after it's all real, you start to question. it's not that i'm denying what i felt to be right, but i guess i feel inadequate and hope that i'll do a great job. there are just a lot of directions you can take with your life and now it's just a matter of faith that this really is the right thing to do. portland. wow. i'm really nervous. excited. sick to my stomach. peaceful. mixed emotions. did i say nervous? and really scared. i feel like i'm going to throw-up sometimes thinking about it...........portland..............oregon............portland.............

my dad took those of us in my family who could snowboarding this last weekend....

this was the 2nd time i have been snowboarding in the last 5 years.

good thing my older brother is patient and helped me relearn how to control the board. i would've gone skiing, but i was afraid i would hurt my knee again.

okay. this is a short post. but look at the stats to your blog...kind of creepy. i have no idea what they mean, but people can go visit your blog from anywhere. from a google search, from random blogs that you have never even heard of?? so creepy.

and one other question, who has an ipad?? i really want one. i want to get one now but seeing as my leaving, i think i might put that on my list of school necessities for when i get back from my mish. i will probably ask for one, ya know as a christmas/birthday gift. let's just hope they are still considered a great form of technology in 2 years.

do you ever think your family is just strange? well, my family is....like at christmas time, they take the nativity way too serious. before my little brother went on his mission, he always played the role of "king herod"....now that he is gone, well my 14 year brother took his spot. lets just say it took a long time after the nativity was over to convince my brother that he was not really king herod.

i went to this comedy sportz thing in provo....and it is SOO FUNNY. if you ever get the chance to go to one, please do it. it's family friendly and comedy sportz is all over utah!

well, in about a month hopefully i know where i'll be living the next 1 1/2 years of my life! i'll make sure to post it for all of you who read my blog, which is not a lot. ha!

welp, here is the big news. . .i'm just kind of sick of being in the world. not a day goes by where i get sick of all the troubles i hear such as people getting shot, ski lift traumas in Maine.....it disgusts me. oh and did i mention the fact that sometimes boys are idiots?

well, all this won't matter because in 6 months i will be on a mission. that's right. you heard me. i will just get to focus on one thing. and that is serving the Lord.

i vowed that i won't be an ugly missionary but a cute one. i don't think HF would want me to look ugly while teaching his children.....nope!

i just had a physical (ew), blood taken from me (double ew), and gone to the dentist (yay).....still have to get a TB test...but then all doctors appointments will be checked off....i even got a passport. so the mish papers are in process.

the last thing, i'm freaked out to go on my mission....i know that i'm not perfect and in my past i've done things i have regret....but that will just make me better missionary, because all that i've learned from it and even though i'm super scared because i don't know where i will get called, i know that this mission will help change my life just like all that i've been through in the past.

This commercial is one of my favorites. I think that Starburst always does a good job of using humor in their commercials. Some commercials have humor but it's not funny I've found...With pretty much every Starburst commercial I've seen, they use humor in the right way and it really attracts people to their product. I think using humor in advertisements is so great and can take a product to a whole new level.

with finals approaching, and my work load of teaching piano students has increased a little bit, i have been feeling overwhelmed...but i've learned a new skill that takes my stress away...knitting!

i'm taking a knitting class on thursday nights and am learning such cool things at it. and for some reason each time i pull yarn through with my knitting needles, a little bit of stress escapes myself and i feel so happy.

i have to remember with these last couple of days that i can pull through until finals. i am smart. i am happy. i like my job. i'm not as overwhelmed as i think i am.

Crazy Ideas

With advertising, it's those crazy ideas that everyone will remember and those companies will most likely gain more customers. We also talked about how there are certain types of promotion in class the other day...On Saturday, October 30, 2010, Macy's partnered up with the Opera Company of the Philadelphia Chorus to provide an "act of service" for all of Macy's customers that day. Over 600 singers sang the Hallelujah Chorus in Macy's that day.

First off, think of how much this act of service attracted consumers to their store? And also, the fact that it this you tube video is getting passed around email to email...it kind of makes me want to shop at Macy's to see what kind of thing they will surprise customers with next?

I just thought that the whole concept of this Hallelujah Chorus idea can be taken into consideration when we do our promotions for our projects...sometimes it's nice to offer service to consumers to attract them to your company.

In class today we talked a little about the creative side of commercials. We watched a few commercials that had jingles. It really got me thinking about if people today still use jingles for commercials. And what I found is that because there are so many music artists out there, it seems as though commercials just have music set to them to somewhat go along with their theme. When I looked up commercial jingles, it seems as though that in the 80's and even before the 80's, jingles were a really big thing, however, now they are kind of vanishing. There are a few exceptions, such as, Kit Kat still uses their ever-famous, "give me a break" and people crunch the kit-kats to the beat of the song.

It seems like that with any free time I had this week, I was studying for the advertising test. I'm trying to come up with a clever subject to write about, however my brain is fried from studying for 3 different tests that I have to take this week. The only thing helping me out right now while I study is Cheez-Its. Who knows if it's just the crunch of the cracker each time I put a few in my mouth or if it is the taste of the real cheddar put into a little yellow-orange square of goodness. . .it keeps me awake while I look over terms such as segmenting, targeting, the 4 components of advertising, how an agency functions, the key players of advertising, and this list could keep going on and on and on and on. The fact--Cheez-Its are from God. They are delicious. Because I'm turning into a commercial Goddess, I watched some Cheez-It commercials. I think I'm a Cheez-It Freak.

I really like this ad because Cheez-It emphasizes that they only make these crackers with 100% ready, real cheese. And who doesn't want that? I think they did a good job at looking into the information of what consumers want and then making a commercial about it....People would rather have real cheese in crackers than fake cheese.

being LDS, every october and april we get to listen to amazing leaders of our church. these leaders give us advice on how we can become better people. one of those leaders is president uchtdorf. he gave some great advice

time is love. taking time for eachother will make for harmony at home.

as part of the young ambassadors at byu, our show this year is called harmony. it is all about finding one with your family. the show is centered around families. we hope to inspire those watching to spend more time with their families.

the church is centered around families and the people who helped made this show for sure had the spirit with them...won't the message of harmony be a great missionary tool? i think so.

n my past reading this last week, I read a lot about marketing. So therefore, I thought about marketing a lot. What is the biggest thing an advertiser/marketer can do to effectively promote a product?

With speaking to my brother a few nights ago, who is a business marketing major, he told me a big thing they reiterate over and over again in marketing classes is that you need to find out what attracts people to that product. Why do people use the product? Why don't they use a product? If they use the product, what is their favorite thing about it? There are probably many more questions you can ask but these are just a few.

I think that asking these questions and knowing all this information will highly benefit an advertiser. The more information you know about a product, the better the ads you create will be. With a lot of the ad campaigns we've been seeing in class, advertisers go right back to SWOT before they probably even start coming up with ideas on what to do for a campaign or a commercial. And after you have that information, then you can start brainstorming within a mindset of a certain budget of how you can promote the product. This is where that Facets Model comes in handy.

I can see myself, hopefully, somewhere in the future using that model to help ask questions after an idea is brought to the table and make sure the ad makes the target audience think, feel, do, etc. It seems as though there is so much to learn in the class--all beneficial, yet hard to retain. But just as marketing is a process, so is learning the trade which is why I'm in this class. I will succeed with cool tennis shoes on because Nike said Just Do It.

just a little story...

as i was walking to campus this morning. i had to park in student parking because i woke up late and missed my bus due to me getting ready for the day. i am at a university and i have to look good on campus. there could be future date potential anywhere i go on the premises. i have to keep my guard up at all time, looking as extravagant as i can.

back to my story. so i parked like tons of yards away from the stairs that go up to the main part of campus. i start walking, dreading each step i take because i know that i'm going to a long day of school learning about little odds and ends. it's bitter-sweet. bitter = walking to campus and going to school. sweet = good looking men and well my legs look nice from walking.

as i walk through the cars in the parking lot, i think to myself, this is absolutely ridiculous. no wonder why everyone is so skinny at school. walk to this place, walk to that place, walk to my house, walk to the store, walk to a building opposite of where your class is in 5 minutes so you can get there on time. lame.

after my journey through the parking lot is done, i realize that i still have stairs to go up. i go up the first flight, then the second flight, then the third. when i reached the top of third, i knew i was done walking until i saw another flight of stairs. they kept on coming like a war of stairs against one innocent student. i knew i could surrender and hold up my white planner to pretend i was looking at my schedule while really i needed to gasp for air for my burning lungs.

however, did i do that? no!!! i conquered the stairs. i defeated the war of fall 2010 on the stairs of death. i stomped on those stairs and killed them with my cute white shoes that are now dirty.

this experience has lead me to believe that if we lived in the matrix, which in fifty years we could be, i could program my ideal school to not have any stairs. or when i rule the world one day--it could happen, you never know--i could abolish having lengthy stairs up to campus.

I've been thinking a lot about the minds behind advertising. How can someone come up with that clever idea? What I mean by that, is how do this people develop an idea that will spark the interest of an audience, hence the title of this post, and ad that person to their product?

To me, it seems that someone comes up with some crazy unrealistic idea and then makes that particular idea somewhat a reality.

Some of these ads/videos turn out amazing and they capture you right within the first second. Some of these ads are kind of offensive and they degrade values of the church. Like do commercials for Mabeyline Mascara really have to be "sexy"? I don't think they do. I think with a lot of commercials like that, they can sell their product doing something completely different instead of having women showing leg....aren't they trying to sell mascara and not women?

These are just my thoughts.

so pretty much, i'm in this musical. it's called guys and dolls. it will be at the sandy amphitheatre from august 20th to the 28th. it starts at 8 pm.

this musical has kind of taken over my life. i am a hot box dancer in it. i dance the entire show. i sing in the ensemble too. my butt has never been so sore in my entire life. we wear character shoes with our costumes and oh boy. . .my butt is getting very muscular.

my family. what would i do without them?

it was once said, "the family is a haven in a heartless world." this quote is a fact.

the world is so heartless but a family will always love you forever despite a shortcoming or trial.
i'm grateful my family is so forgiving and caring. the other day i walked downstairs to find my mother sitting at the kitchen table with her scriptures out. . .my family is a wonderful example to me.
i look up to them oh so much.

it's not until you step out into the real heartless world where you realize everyone needs a family. everyone needs to be loved.

so i went to a concert this last weekend. . .i went to secondhand serenade.

they were pretty alright. i wasn't to impressed but i did have fun!

what i think about men. . .

so in my dating experience and i sure have had a lot of it the past couple years, i have a few thoughts about men. some men are just downright deceitful and plain rude therefore you shouldn't date them---then there are the nice ones.......now i've gotten really good telling the difference between these good guys and these bad guys. the men who are bad put on a show are what i like to call"good salesmen". these men are easy to pin out and from a first time meeting them, you know what they are thinking. all they think about is one thing: action. don't date those guys, it's not worth it.

the good guys though are the most confusing.....and why this must be, i have no clue?? like when one of these extremely well mannered gents does a few things with a girl....does this mean they are dating? or are they are just friends? if a guy pays for a girl, is that a for sure that the guy is interested in a girl? or could he just be trying to be nice because he is a good guy?

*i think both sexes would be less confusing to each other if they both just said what they think instead of making assumptions like i just did in the above paragraph...

my dear friend emmy calls me meeshy and i kinda like it. only very few people can call me meesh--only the people who cross over my line of "i trust you 100%" can call me meesh. this nickname started out as mooch---went to mish---and now it is meesh. this is all courtesy to a good friend i had in high school...you know who you are, thank you for a nickname that will last my whole life!

so what has meeshy been up to?

i went to the temple for the 5th time. it was amazing. if you remember my dad said that if i went to the temple 5 times i would be blessed. i went into this challenge thinking that i needed blessings by going to the temple but really by going, i am being the blessing for other people's ancestors and for my own ancestors.

okay so here was the goal. . .i needed to go to the temple FIVE times and my dad said i would be blessed. i have already been four, and i thought i would see blessings like maybe i would win the lottery or something. however, that didn't happen.

so i will keep you posted on time number five to the temple and if anything out of the ordinary happens......maybe i'll get struck down by lightning? that would be pretty epic.

that i'm divorced. as if going to a wedding and being the only divorced girl out there isn't hard enough. to top it off i'm single. the 18th was this week too. the day i married that man, 3 years ago. i'm still sealed to him and let me tell you, when you are sealed to someone you sometimes have harsh feelings against. . .it's not all happy days. who would've ever thought that amidst all my friends and their lovers, i have a big flashing red sign across my forehead that says DIVORCE. it's awkward being the only single person in a group of friends.

i feel like a boring shoe only without a pair. i feel like swearing sometimes because of this. but my father wouldn't like that so i will refrain. however saying a swear word is better than punching someone in the face right? maybe i'll cuss but i'll do it in my head. that's justifiable right?

this is why i think i'm addicted to coke. . .i drink my sorrows away with a caffeineited beverage.

well folks, i got knee surgery this last wednesday.....so i've been sitting on the couch doing nothing. i wish i could say that i'm doing fun things like ferris bueller did on his day off, but i can't. that's okay though. here are a few things that i have been up to though.

i sold the mobster car and got

a 2005 mazda 3. love it!!

i went to a few hockey games in provo to support BYU.

and then i went ice skating at the gallivan center.

i also went to vegas for the first time.

yup folks, i have caught a sickness...runny nose, headache, throat hurts...it's not fun being sick. i always get sick and i'm sick of being sick. but i did bring this affliction upon myself. i guess when the boyfriend is sick and the family is sick, it's really easy to get sick. even when you take vitamins and airborne constantly, you can still get sick. there really is no point to this post, just remember that vitamins won't protect you against getting sick. um, yeah-i hope i don't get the swine flu; which i probably will get with just my luck.

this last weekend was great-played the piano at a wedding, went to part of an institute retreat and learned about leadership, and i had a family activity at school today-we carved pumpkins, had doughnuts with halloween sprinkles, and yummy hot choco.

i carved a skeleton on my pumpkin, will put up pictures later. there were over 100 people at this activity. it was great!! i love talking to all the families that come to these activities and hearing their stories. so interesting to just listen to people. this weekend has been rewarding. doing service for school and for others really makes me happy. i can not help but smile. :)

so, this week has been crazy! i'm so busy with life in general. balancing things out takes a lot of organizational skills, which i think i'm pretty good at now. my calendar is my best friend. all the things that i'm doing are:

institute council

student gov. at school

teaching piano

the daily "stuff" life throws at you

however, i'm so content with what i'm doing. even though at times i freak out and get paranoid about the future. now, i know all you peeps out there know i'm divorced. it's been a hard road coming out of that, but i feel that i have gained so so much experience from that.

someone once told me that in order to have a "friendship/relationship" with someone else, you must be a friend to yourself first. i feel as though with all the things as i've mentioned above, that i've taken care of myself...i guess you could say i want more perhaps...i'm kind of ready to progress farther in my life--now i know not right now, but if the opportunity to get married again ever came up soon, i'm pretty sure i would take it.

i've had so many great experiences and have learned so much this last year. i'm doing so many great things in my life right now, that i want to settle down with someone who is also doing great things....and then do great things together. isn't that what marriage is all about? being independent with someone else, yet depending on God? i have those desires...and i never thought i would get them again.

honestly, i thought that after my divorce, i would be single for the rest of my life. i thought that no one would want me, because i'd already been married. but, i learned that whoever thinks this, does not understand the atonement. the gospel is all about love. we were sent here to this earth to love just as christ did. because of the atonement and the love my heavenly father and savior jesus christ have for me, i'm able to love again. so the thought of being single for the rest of my life, is now out of the question.

we can apply these principles in our whole lives. for a mother who lost a child and is afraid that she won't be able to love another, for a friend who has lost a loved one and is afraid that they can never love another friend, for a girl who gets her heart broken and is afraid to love another guy...it keeps going and going. when we truly understand the love our father in heaven has for each of us, we can learn to love in all aspects again. i think this is what makes successful marriages, when spouses see eachother in God's eyes and not in the natural man's eyes.

i hope for that one day...and for those of you who are married, keep on loving unconditionally...even though it is hard at times, think of all the great things you can do together and are doing together.

even though not many people read this blog, thanks for reading it! i'm loving you all too much!

you have no experience running our country....when our economy should be coming out right about now, it is getting worse. what the heck??!!! you won people over with your charisma (not me, i'm proud to say) and now.....

-you need to cut our taxes in half so our economy will boom again. reagon did it, bush did too, and clinton did it as well.....it got us out of the recessions at those times.

-say no to socialized health care!! what if people, especially women are prego get paired with a doctor, they don't like and who doesn't listen to them?? you would think obama would understand since he has a wife and kids...but i don't think he does.

-that "scholarship" you took away from your daughters school so kids who aren't as fortunate can get a decent education??? yeah, not cool...just a little bit selfish.

-the whole henry louis gates thing.....what on earth??

-having the news in the white house? bad idea....

-abortions and gay marriages?? isn't that too far left?

this will be the longest 3 years of my life while he is in...sure he is a nice person...i just don't like what he is doing. people keep saying we need a "social reform". i think that is true to an extent, but we need a political reform. our country is being run by democrats right now. whatever happened to finding a common ground between the two sides? right now, it's just about one side. isn't that what our forefathers who signed the constitution wanted?

like with abortion, i know it is wrong, but i think i would be somewhat content if we found a middle ground for it. like, instead of it being legal, lets have it be legal up for 2 months from when the child was conceived. (i still think it is wrong for that though)....but at least republicans and democrats would feel like they are getting heard.....it's called compromising people. has america forgotten that?

this just makes me sick what is happening.....i guess i just have to keep on praying, going to church, and living my life right. what does that song say? don't worry, be happy? yeah, i will try not to worry. but it is so hard not too.

master cleanse...

i heard about this master cleanse--it's a detox drink.....and i think i'm going to do it.
for ten days you drink this little mixture:

two tablespoons of fresh organic lemon or lime juice (approx. half a lemon)
two tablespoons of genuine maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or to taste
8 oz of water at room temperature

some rules to follow while drinking this:

-no other food or juice should be taken during the time of the lemonade diet
-you can drink a herbal laxative tea at night time
-and drink a full quart of lukewarm water and add two level teaspoons of sea salt (more for course salt) and drink it first thing in the morning.
you should drink this on an empty stomach. the salt water cleans your intestinal tract.

i will update in a few weeks after i do this!!!

i ran my 1/2 marathon! i did it! i set a goal and accomplished it!!!! :) at first i did this wonderful running race because "my older brother has never ran one." i'm competitive with my older brother...he has done many many things. i keep wanting to do the things he does but do better then him, well because i am jealous of him.

however, this 1/2 marathon put a lot of things in perspective for me; even though at the start of my training, i was doing it because of this jealousy reason, i started doing it for myself. i realized that i was doing it because i wanted to do it. and then i came to the conclusion, that all of the things i am doing right now is the path i'm starting to take.

i don't need to take anyone else's path (such as my brothers) to define who i am! i have to take my own path. this 1/2 marathon really knocked some sense into me. to really be happy, we all have to find our own path.

i think a lot of times, people (especially women) begin to rationalize in our heads, that everyone around us is so good at all of these things that i have to be good at those things too! so then we put all of our effort into these things and become stressed! we just have to stick to what we know we are good at.

life is a journey....but it sure as heck is a fun one!!!

so this last month of april has been crazy. i had finals to study for. :( i had a piano recital. i had many fun dates. (thanks to all those boys who have taken me out....more props to those dates who opened the door for me.) i went on a road trip to hurricane/st george. it ws just for one night. but it was a much needed trip. it was a nice break sandy. not saying sandy is bad, i just needed a break!!

me and jessica newton from my singles ward took a long 4 hour drive from sandy to st. george. we decided to go support a friend and watch her run a half marathon. she did so well. she conquered that race like there was no tomorrow.

during our trip, jessica got pulled over by a cop. she just got a warning (phew). later on during the day, however, i thought it would be fun to get a picture next to a cop to keepsake this treasured memory of getting pulled over. little did we know that the cop we got the pic. with, was the cop that pulled ms. jessica over. LOL funniest thing ever!!!

we went to a dinosaur museum.

we passed cool signs on the road.

we listened to church music the whole way there and back too. it was awesome!

i guess the moral of this post is, take random road trips to st. george to watch people run in races.

love this temple. the family went to the temple dedication. the brothers and i were lucky and sat in the celestial room. the temple is beautiful beyond description of any word.

love this man. president monson looks very old up close and (not) personal. he winked at my brother. he smiled at me. he was funny. the spirit was strong. the savior was near. we cried, we sang, we shouted hosannahs. i'll never forget it. remarkable.
